Finding Jesus

Version 1.0.0

Finding Jesus by Tammy Fernando on Amazon

Where is Jesus? In this clever book by prolific author and child-whisperer, Tammy Fernando, the children we’ve become familiar with must build a tabernacle for a school project. Chris and Shani learn the value of teamwork as they struggle to build something that will stay standing. Is Jesus in the tabernacle? Is He in their hearts as they learn about the Mass?

Finding Jesus is a longer read-aloud for children, perfect for when one bedtime story is simply not enough. Little ones will love the vibrant illustrations of children and adults working, playing, and worshipping together. I really love how the parents are not silent; they help guide Chris in building not only a tabernacle, but his character as well. Chris must learn to obey his parents, both with objects from his dad’s shed, and with traveling from home without telling them where he is going.

Tammy does a wonderful job incorporating trials, forgiveness, and learning. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove are always there, cheering Chris on. The pictures of the Trinity are especially important, fostering the imagination of children and parents alike. As a side note, I especially love the veils in Kimberly Merritt’s illustrations. (Our parish has recently come to understand veiling as a way of devotion to Jesus, and it is no longer a rare occurrence as many women and girls do it during Mass.)

Tammy Fernando has a wonderful website, where she posts monthly blogs to help children learn the Faith. You can find her at tammyfernando.co.uk. Her videos are on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube at the following locations:
